In the maritime profession, marine meteorology is one of the essential fields of studies that a navigator must be knowledgeable and competent of. A navigator must be able to sail the ship safely to its destination regardless of bad weather and rough seas. To overcome this challenge, a navigator must act as a meteorologist on board and acquiring accurate weather forecast to facilitate a safe voyage. Predicting and forecasting weather is directly related to the availability of many kinds of data which large amounts of it can be analyzed. The advances of technology make it easier for navigators to obtain weather information. Navigators always record weather conditions and obtain weather forecasts to determine changes of weather and sea conditions.
